Update 28th May

Updated 2 weeks ago by IT

Thank you to all members who continue to observe Government advice and the club guidelines.  This means that we are all able to continue to use the club in these dificult times.  This has been great as we have been able to make use of the excellent weather.

The Covid19 action team will continue to meet on a regular basis to consider if our current guidelines meet the latest  Government advice, (which is changing rapidly) and adapt as we hopefully move to normality.  To help us the RYA are running seminars to support sailing clubs in dealing with the challenges of this pandemic.  I would like to thank Richard and Lindsey for attending these.

Key points from our latest meeting:

 Keeping your distance

Most members are abiding by the social distancing, there is still issue with groups of children and families who are good friends.  It is great for us to meet and enjoy this great weather., however please all follow the latest advice and guidance.

 Water Users

Dinghy sailors, please continue to remove your trolley to a berth.  We understand this may be difficult for some individuals with certain boats but we need to keep the landing areas clear to help social distancing.  We are continuing to look at the boat park layout to give more space for rigging and  boat movement.

When you are not using your boat please do not leave it on a slipway or  launching area.  There is space to tie up boats in front of the clubhouse and beside the slip on the west side of the boat park.

 Use of bouyancy Aids

We ask that all those on the water use appropriate bouyancy aids.  Parents are responsible for thier children’s use of bouyancy aids.  Please can you make sure all children wear bouyancy aids at this time.

 Barbeques/Out door cooking

As of  Monday the 1st June government advice is changing with regard to barbeques.  We will be relaxing the restrictions on thier use on this day.  Purpose built, gas or charcoal barbecues, which are raised above the ground, may be used.  Disposable or barbecues which sit on the ground must not be used.   Please use barbeques in the camping areas (i.e. not in the boat parks or the grass areas around the clubhouse) If you are using a charcoal barbecue please make sure you have a bucket of water nearby.

Please do not dispose of  coals in the bins, please make sure they are completely extinguished before taking them home fo disposal.

No fires please.

Camping and Regatta

At present we can give no further information on when camping will resume.  We will monitor  government advice and when we are able to safely commence camping we will advise the membership.  Please be aware that it will be phased so please be patient.

We are not cancelling Regatta at present, but we we cannot confirm what from it will take either.  It will depend on Government and RYA advice.  Watch this space.
